Inauguration of the Institute for Kashmir Studies

3.00 pm: The peace concert by the Singhs and Junoon bands.

 

On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Institute for Kashmir Studies, Srinagar, a peace concert of modern Sufi-Rock was inaugurated by Hon. Sri Mani Shankar Aiyar (Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Chairman SAF India Chapter) on the lawns of the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex, Chasma Shahi, Srinagar on 25th May 2008 at 3.00 pm.

Featuring: The Singhs lead by singer/song-writer Miki Singh, combining traditional Indian instruments with the band’s high-energy rock and funk sound, who played at a SAF event in Maldives; and Pakistani band Junoon lead by Salman Ahmad, who played at the Nobel Prize concert in Oslo, ”we are on songs of unity, peace, joy and brotherhood; Kashmir is the perfect setting for it” declared Salman.
