Madanjeet Singh Scholarships for the Academic Year 2017 in Bhutan

The UNESCO Madanjeet Center for South Asia Forestry Studies (UMCSAFS) at Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Bumthang, Bhutan is pleased to announce the Madanjeet Singh scholarship for four years Bachelors degree program in Forestry and two years Masters Program  in Natural Resources Management to be undertaken at College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) in Lobesa, Punakha, Bhutan from July 2019 to July 2023 and 2021 respectively.

The scholarship is eligible to the citizens of all SAARC countries as per the criteria given.


Applicants must fulfill the following criteria for Bachelors degree

  1. Have completed a BSc programme awarded by a recognized University in the field of forestry, environment and life science.
  2. Have secured a minimum of 55% in each subject and overall aggregate of 60%  
  3. A copy of valid Citizenship Identity card
  4. Copy of Passport (for international Participants)
  5. A copy of degree certificate from a recognized university
  6. Police clearance certificate
  7. No Objection Certificate if employed from employer
  1. Be fluent in English (both in written and speaking)
  2. Produce English Language Proficiency Certificate from recognized/competent institutions
  1. Audit clearance certificate if employed
  2. Two copies of recent passport size photograph

An applicant’s applying for Masters in Natural Resources Management should submit this attached application form and Research Proposal format (mandatory) along with the required documents

The candidate applying for UMCSAFS scholarship program should submit the following documents to the respective SAF offices for both courses:

  1. Class XII Certificate/Nested Diploma certificate in Forestry
  2. Class XII Transcript/Marksheet
  3. Bachelors degree certificate from recognized university (for masters applicant only)
  4. English Language Proficiency Certificate
  5. A copy of Citizenship ID card and valid passport
  6. Security clearance certificate from respective countries
  7. Medical fitness certificate from competent government hospital of respective countries
  8. Birth Certificate
  9. Contact: e-mail address and mobile phone number of the candidate

A copy of documents for the selected candidate should be sent to office of SAF Bhutan for final assessment and acceptance into the program. All the accepted candidates should produce original documents at the time of admission at College of Natural Resources, Lobesa, Bhutan.

Important dates

  1. June 10, 2019: All the required documents of the selected candidate should reach the office of Program Director, Madanjeet Singh Center for South Asia Forestry Studies, UWICE, Lamai Goempa: Bumthang. The document should be sent to ktshering@uwice.gov.bt and copied to dtshomo@uwice.gov.bt
  2. June 20, 2019: Candidate shall be informed on the selection results via e-mail or phone calls. Accepted students shall be informed on legal and travel documents required
  3. June 30, 2019: Last date for selected scholarship student to send copy of Passport and other required documents (will asked by UMCSAFS)
  4. 15th July 2019: Student should arrive Bhutan to process all immigration formalities
  5. 19th July, 2019: Reporting and enrolment in College of Natural Resources
  6. 22nd July, 2019: Orientation program
