About Artist:

Ayesha Sultanawas born in Jessore, Bangladesh in 1984. She completed her Bachelors in Fine Art in 2007 and a Post-graduate Diploma in Art Education in 2008 from UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts (UMISAA), Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, where she also taught for two years. Sultana has participated in solo and groupexhibitions, includingNew Configurations, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi (2018); Lahore Biennale 01, Mubarak Haveli, Lahore (2018); Planetary Planning, Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka (2018); FIAC, Secteur Lafayette, Paris (2017);Making Visible, Experimenter, Kolkata (2017); welcome to what we took from is the state, Queens Museum, New York, NY; ASpace Between Things, Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka (2016); 11th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju(2016);You Cannot Cross the Sea Merely by Staring at the Waves, Krinzinger Projekte, Vienna (2016); 1mile² Dhaka, Shyam Bazaar, Dhaka (2015); Blue Velvet, Galleria Valentina Bonomo, Rome (2014); Outside the Field of View, Experimenter, Kolkata. Sultana was artist-in-residence at Bellas Artes Projects, Bataan (2017), IASPIS, Stockholm (2016) and the Delfina Foundation, London as the recipient of 2014 Samdani Art Award. In 2013, she undertook a curatorial training residency at Gasworks, London as an exchange programme with Britto Arts Trust, an artist-led collectivein Dhaka. She is a Visiting Faculty in Pathshala SouthAsian Media Institute since 2015. Sultana lives and works in Dhaka.
