SAF-Bangladesh mourns death of Madanjeet

The SAF-Bangladesh family, at a condolence meeting on January 9, adopted a resolution in memory of Unesco Goodwill Ambassador Madanjeet Singh, the founding father of the South Asia Foundation (SAF).
Madanjeet Singh passed away from a stroke in Beaulieu-sur-Mer in the south of France on January 6. He was 88.
Madanjeet Singh was uniquely gifted, enabling him to make significant and creative contributions during his eventful life in different capacities, as a freedom fighter, talented artist, successful diplomat, author and philanthropist, says a press release.
He was committed to strengthening bonds of friendship and understanding among South Asians with the ultimate vision of realising a South Asian Union.
The establishment of SAF Foundation with national chapters of SAF in each of the Saarc countries was in pursuance of that commitment.
The passing away of Madanjeet Singh is deeply felt by every member of the SAF-Bangladesh family.
His life and work, however, will remain a source of continuing inspiration, which will sustain dedication to those goals by all those who are actively involved with SAF-Bangladesh.
SAF-Bangladesh will continue to strive actively to ensure that the legacy left behind by Madanjeet Singh is actively continued at all levels.
