In London, on April 11, 2025– Professor Salima Hashmi, renowned artist, educator, and curator, who also serves as Director of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asian Arts (UMISAA), Beaconhouse National University and Chairperson of SAF-Pakistan, will be a keynote speaker at the launch of (Un)Layering the Future Past of South Asia: Young Artists’ Voices.
The event, held at The Djam Lecture Theatre at SOAS, will feature a panel discussion exploring the evolving landscape of South Asian art. Professor Hashmi, known for her tireless efforts in fostering artistic exchange and nurturing young talent, will be joined by Manmeet K Walia, co-curator of the exhibition, and Rahaab Allana, a distinguished writer, author, and curator. The discussion will be moderated by Beatriz Cifuentes Feliciano, curator at Tate Modern.
Curated by Salima Hashmi and Manmeet K Walia, the event is presented in collaboration with Dhoomimal Gallery, SOAS Gallery, Penguin Enterprise, and other cultural partners.
