On April 11, 2025, Madam France Marquet, Principal Trustee of the Madanjeet Singh Foundation and South Asia Foundation (SAF) Representative to UNESCO, met with Professor Salima Hashmi at the opening of the exhibition "(Un)Layering: The Future Past of South Asia – Young Artists' Voices" at the SOAS Gallery, University of London.

Professor Salima Hashmi—renowned artist, educator, and curator—is the Director of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asian Arts (UMISAA) at Beaconhouse National University and Chairperson of SAF-Pakistan. As co-curator of the exhibition alongside Manmeet K. Walia, she delivered the keynote address at the launch of this landmark show, which features the work of 26 emerging artists from across South Asia. The exhibition is presented by the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation with the support of Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi.

The panel discussion accompanying the exhibition took place the following day at The Djam Lecture Theatre, SOAS University of London, bringing together curators, artists, and scholars to reflect on the evolving landscape of South Asian contemporary art.

During the event, Madam France Marquet and Professor Hashmi were also joined by Ms. Kubra Khademi, a distinguished UMISAA alumna from Afghanistan 2009 Batch, whose artistic journey and presence added a meaningful dimension to the evening. The gathering underscored the shared commitment to promoting regional cooperation and supporting young artists through platforms like UMISAA.

The exhibition will remain on view at theBrunei Gallery, SOAS until June 21, 2025.
