MSF and SAF Governing Council Meeting Held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu – November 30, 2018

The SAF General Council reviewed annual reports from all SAF Chapters and UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institutions of Excellence. Members urged all institutions to intensify efforts to fill scholarship slots, addressing underrepresentation, particularly from The Maldives, and challenges such as visa issues.

Prof. Uma Coomaraswamy (Sri Lanka) and Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury (Bangladesh) will visit SAF Institutions to evaluate challenges and enhance coordination and visibility.

A SAF Alumni Reunion is planned for 2020 in Kathmandu under SAF-Nepal’s stewardship, with assistance from SAF-India in compiling alumni details.

Prof. Salima Hashmi announced gold medal achievements by two Nepali scholars, with financial assistance pledged by Madame France Marquet for their visit to Lahore.

SAF-India will donate its library books to institutions across SAF countries on a first-request basis, with courier costs borne by recipients.

The meeting emphasized collaboration to strengthen SAF’s mission across the SAARC region.
