A Brief Report on the Informal Interaction with SAF Scholars (2021-23 Batch), UMSGET, Pondicherry University
An informal interaction between SAF Scholars of Green Energy Technology 2021-23 batch, Director of UMSGET, Pondicherry University and the Director of Administration of SAF-India, was held on 22nd May 2023 through virtual mode. The idea was mooted long back to institutionalize regular and informal interactions between the continuing scholars, the Head of the Department and SAF-India to address grievances, if any, during their stay in the University, and also enable them integrate into larger SAF Family.
Chaired by Professor Arun Prasath, the informal interaction was to get feedbacks from the outgoing Scholars on the course structure, the academic atmosphere and hostel facility provided by the University etc. In addition to that, Scholars were encouraged to give suggestions how to improve and to make the course more attractive to Scholars from all the SAARC Countries.
All the seven scholars present in the meeting conveyed their gratitude to South Asian Foundation and its Founder and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Madanjeet Singh for making it possible for them to avail the prestigious SAF-Madanjeet Singh Scholarship. Secondly, each one of them appreciated the University for providing them better hostel accommodation with required amenities. Thirdly, they unanimously agreed that through the current course structure they have gained knowledge and wisdom which was immeasurable with satisfaction that it will help them become climate warriors and contribute significantly by using greener technologies. Further, they pledged to carry forward Ambassador Madanjeet Singh’s vision of Cooperation in the region. Further, they accepted the responsibility to encourage and recommend deserving Scholars from their Chapters who can join M. Tech Course at the UMSGET, Pondicherry University.
There were few suggestions received from the Scholars as well, including request to hike the monthly stipend from Rs. 12,500/-. Further, it was suggested that a particular software, which will make the course more attractive (essential tool in the industry) and reduce the gap between industry and academia should be incorporated in the course. Professor Prasath assured the scholars that the Department is already in the process of acquiring the software which is expected by next academic year.
The Scholars unanimously conveyed their thankfulness to Mme France Marquet, the Principal Trustee of MSF, and SAF-India.
It was agreed that open and free interactions, through Zoom, should be held on regular basis to address grievances of the continuing SAF Scholars, if any.
