HUMAN RIGHTS GO LOCAL: WHAT WORKS 

From Intentions to Commitments: Towards the Effective and Sustainable Implementation of Human Rights"

The International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Level under the auspices of UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security in cooperation with the UNESCO, OHCHR, UN-Habitat, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Provincial Government Styria, the City of Graz and the University of Graz, organised an Academy on Human Rights and the Local and Regional Levels which is at its second edition and took place between 1st and 8th February 2022. 

 

Within the framework of this Academy, the closing Conference on "Human Rights Go Local: What Works. From Intentions to Commitments: Towards the Effective and Sustainable Implementation of Human Right" will take place on 8th February, from 12 to 2 pm (Paris Time), for a Panel discussion between renowned experts on how to encourage local-level governments worldwide to transform human rights commitments to responsibility.

 

The event will be opened by Renate Kicker, Director of the Foundation for Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels; Klaus Starl, Director of the UNESCO Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels; Peter Riedler, Rector of the University of Graz; Hermann Schützenhöfer, Governor of the Federal Province of Styria; and Ernst-Peter Brezovszky, Ambassador and Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

 

The Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos will close the Conference with takeaway messages on moving from Intentions to Commitments to Human Rights.
