The orientation of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies LLM programme was held at the University of Asia Pacific in Dhaka on Saturday.
Twenty-two students of fifteen different public and private universities from the South Asian region were admitted in the programme with fully funded scholarships offered by UMSAILS.
The University of Asia Pacific vice-chancellor Jamilur Reza Choudhury chaired the session while jurist and senior advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Court Kamal Hossain delivered his speech as the chief guest.
The Daily Star editor and publisher Mahfuz Anam and UAP board of trustees chairman Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury addressed the function as special guests while university board of trustees treasurer Qayum Reza Chowdhury spoke during the programme.
University board of trustees senior vice-chairman M Alauddin, retired justice AFM Abdur Rahman, university treasurer Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury and teachers also attended the programme.
The programme was moderated by associate professor and programme coordinator of LLM programme Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky while a vote of thanks was given by the university’s law and human rights department head Md Asaduzzaman.
