On Tuesday 15th of October 2019, SAF-India had the privilege of welcoming two distinguished visitors, Dr. Eric Falt, Director UNESCO for India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka in Delhi and Ms. Nandita Das, Actor and Director. This was the first visit of Ms. Nandita Das to SAF-India. Present at the meeting were Mr. Navin Chawla, Dr. Syeda Hameed and Mr. M.K. Raina, Trustees of SAF-India. SAF is associated with UNESCO as all the SAF Institutions of Excellence now bear the prefix ‘UNESCO’, with the authorization of the Director-General, UNESCO in 2010. Ms. Nandita Das was appointed by the UNESCO Director General Mme. Audrey Azoulay to be a member of the Jury for the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non Violence. An accomplished actor, Nandita Das is a social activist and a strong advocate for social justice and human rights. She shared a 2 minute film, India’s Got Colour, which she has produced. The film forcefully brings out the issue of colour bias. The Trustees presented a set of publications by Ambassador Madanjeet Singh, Including Himalayan Art, The Sasia Story, This My People and Kashmiriyat to Ms. Das.
