Afghanistan's Cultural Heritage: A Conference in Honor of Omara Khan Masoudi
Dr. Omara Khan Masoudi, General Director of National Museum received the honorary doctorate degree of Humane Letters in 181st commencement Exercises of New York University which was held on Wednesday 22ndof May, 2013 at Yankee Stadium of New York city.
Dr. Masoudi did tireless efforts in preservation of Afghanistan Cultural Heritages in particular saving of the Afghanistan’s Precious Artifacts and other valuable collections of National Museum during the Civil war in which Afghanistan has lost almost all its infrastructures.
His efforts in public awareness with respect to our pompous history and civilization with organizing the Bakhtar Treasures Exhibitions outside the country and some other Exhibition within the National Museum made him to receive many Awards from Different National and International Organizations. To sum up, Dr. Masoudi Received Award of Prince Claus in recognition of exceptional achievement in the field of Cultural Heritage Development in 2004. In the same year, He also received ABU ALI SINA BALKHI (Avicenna) Medal from UNESCO. Parliament of Afghanistan has also honored Dr. Masoudi with a Medal in 2010.
It is indeed a great honor bestowed by New York University by conferring a prestigious Honorary Doctor of humane Letters Degree. This is a Tribute to his dedication and contribution by Dr. Omara Khan Masoudi towards preservation of Afghanistan’s Cultural Heritages.
