News Kathmandu, Nepal - 19th July 2012

Dear SAF Colleagues,
The South Asian Women’s Network (SWAN) conference on “Women of South Asia and Sustainable Development” held in Kathmandu from July 17-18 was a resounding success. It was supported by the South Asia Foundation.

A very good coverage of the event has appeared in the local Nepali press. Participants from Afghanistan to Myanmar had come to Kathmandu for this event. SWAN coordinator Prof. Veena Sikri will separately send you a detailed report including a copy of the SWAN Declaration.

Attached are some photos of the event.
The first photo is of the wife of H.E. the SAARC Secretary General Madame Ayesha Saleem talking with Prof. Sikri, myself, and Ms. Pramila Rijal of SAARC Women Chambers of Commerce.
Second photo of the speech by Prof. Sikri and myself at the dinner I hosted last evening where we spoke briefly about the activities of SAF and the third photo of the one of the panels of the conference.
