Testimony Srinagar, India - 6th July 2011

His Excellency,
Mr. Madanjeet Singh,
UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

Sir,

I Mudasir Amin is a research scholar of U.M. I.K.S., University of Kashmir,  Srinagar, Kashmir, selected under SAF scholarship scheme. I am working in the field of sociology of Kashmir.

I am having high regards for your worthy self who proved to be the torch bearer for us as you initiated the spread of education on such a massive level and created research opportunities for scholars like me who probably would not have been able to conduct their desired research in absence of such opportunities.

There are no. of institutes in South-Asia run under your august patronage.

Among them there is the UNESCO Madanjeet Institute of Kashmir Studies (U.M.I.K.S.). The Institute promotes research in Sufi-Bhakti-Rishi culture and offers degrees in collaboration with the University of Kashmir, Srinagar. With the grace of the Almighty we too became the part of this very Institute. It provided us with a chance to continue our studies on an advanced stage.

The Institute is also having a library which helps the students in their research. The relevant material is readily available in the library with internet facility in order to facilitate the scholars to work effectively and smoothly.

The Institute is conducting regular presentations, which help us in developing the knowledge about our concerned research topics.

The Institute also promotes interaction among SAARC students. Scholars from different SAF countries get chance to interact with each other and giving rise to the regional co-ordination. With this people of SAF countries could understand each other’s problems in a better way and can work together for a common cause.

The Institute is visited by scholars belonging to different corners of the world and with different cultural & spiritual backgrounds. The scholars of the Institute get an opportunity to interact with these international scholars belonging to diverse fields. This experience is very enriching & emancipating.

This is a primary step for the outset of development in the SAF countries and your worthy efforts would be remembered as the foundation stone for such a great mission. Nothing is possible till a man like you will not initiate such a noble cause.
Your good self has initiated process of co ordination and co operation among the people of south Asia through education and research. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be the part of this process.

With best regards

Mudasir Amin Research Scholar
