Testimony from a Sri Lankan student

Testimony Lahore, Pakistan - 10th June 2011

I am honoured to be a recipient of the UMISAA Scholarship. Your generous support has helped me to fulfil a lifelong dream of going to an Art
University. I am an individual who had a bit of knowledge  of visual arts from childhood because of the family background and it made my interest towards emerging art trends such as computer graphics. After a massive research I found out that Visual communication design is something really matches my passion and therefore added it as a thing to do in life.

I graduated in 2010 as a Visual Communication Designer and my major subjects were Print Design and Animation. Education is not the only thing we benefited from this scholarship. I was very lucky to be in a hostel where we could share 8 different cultures. From the day one in 2007 to the last day of 2010 academic year, I had the most amazing time of my life with these scholarship students and also with local Pakistani students. Thank you very much BNU! And I miss the good time I had in Lahore.

After returning to Sri Lanka, I did my internship in 2008 at JWT Colombo, and today I am working as a Designer in Global Publishing Services at HSBC Data Processing Lanka Limited and its proving that I have reached my goals with the help of your generous organization and all the people who made it possible. Thank you Sir. Madanjeet Singh and Madam Salima Hashmi. God Bless you all!

Janaka Senevirathna.
