News Colombo, Sri Lanka - 16th June 2011

Dear SAF Colleagues,

Deepanjali Abeyawardena from Sri LankaI am just returning from a regional conference organized in Colombo by Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany) and Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (New Delhi) on Energy and Environmental Security in South Asia. It was participated by Heads of Think-Tanks of our region and some of the best brains on the subject.

One of the delegates introduced herself as a former “SAF Madanjeet Singh Scholar” who had just completed her masters in International Relations from the Pondicherry University. She was Deepanjali Abeyawardena from Sri Lanka who contributed greatly in the conference with eloquence and logic. I am today so proud of her that I would like to thank the SAF-Sri Lanka chapter for the selection of an exceptionally bright student and also to the Pondicherry University for orienting her so well in South Asian studies. Afterall, it is students like her that will contribute to regional cooperation and in fulfilling the SAF Founder’s dream of a peaceful, stable and prosperous South Asia.

She told me that she has been selected as an intern at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, a premier strategic studies institution in Delhi and will be moving shortly.

Regards,

Nishchal N. Pandey
