The third SAF-SOS Environment Camp ended on 19th December 2005. The Camp was hosted by SOS Children’s Village Khajuri Kalan (India). This time the Camp had an additional feature focusing on the needs and care of special children, apart from the regular emphasis on the environment and sustainable development.

The founder of the South Asia Foundation (SAF), Madanjeet Singh hosted a reception and dinner for the participants at SAF premises in New Delhi on 5th December 2005.

The former Prime Minister of India I. K. Gujral and SAF chairperson, Deputy Secretary General of SOS-Kinderdorf International Siddhartha Kaul, M. Shubha and other dignitaries attended the distinguished gathering.

All 22 participants arrived at New Delhi and stayed at SOS Children's Village Greenfields.They had the opportunity to interact with the visiting Asian National Directors of SOS national associations.

Since the agreement between the South Asia Foundation (SAF) and SOS-Kinderdorf International in 2003, girls and boys from Indian villages have been participating in the different camps; Malpotha (Sri Lanka) and Bagerhat (Bangladesh).

But in December 2005, the third SAF-SOS Environment Camp was held at SOS Children’s Village Khajuri Kalan. It was established specifically for children with special needs and it is situated near Bhopal, the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

President Kutin of SOS-Kinderdorf International came to visit the camp which ended on 19th December 2005.
