Chaired by Mme Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and attended by eminent personalities as Prof. Carlo Fonseka, Mr. U.L. Kadurugamuwa, Mr. M.D.M. Peiris, Dr. Roland Silva, Mr. Jeevan Thiagarajah, and the secretary of the Advisory Board, Ms Swinitha Perera.
After the Chairperson’s introductory remarks, Ambassador Madanjeet Singh reminded the board members that before Mr. Lakshman Kadirgamar was assassinated, he was very keen on establishing a project on water management at the Moratuwa University. In fact, negotiations with UNESCO and an institution in Holland were well advanced before the project was given up due to the change of Government in Sri Lanka. Therefore SAF-Sri Lanka Advisory Board members unanimously decided to revive the project in the framework of SAF institutions of excellence.
