Madam France Marquet Represents SAF at UNESCO attended 220th Executive Board Session in Paris

Paris, France, October 09, 2024: Madam. France Marquet, the South Asia Foundation (SAF) Representative to UNESCO, actively participated in the 220th Session of the Executive Board at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris. The high-level event, which commenced on October 09, 2024, and will continue until October 23, 2024,

The meetings are being held across multiple rooms, including Salle des Actes, Room III, Room V, and the Monaco Reception Desk (R.233). Madam. Marquet's involvement highlights SAF’s ongoing commitment to promoting UNESCO’s ideals of peace, tolerance, and non-violence.

A major focus of the session is the review and renewal of several UNESCO awards and programs. Notably, on the agenda under document code 220 EX/14.III, is Part III: Proposal for the Renewal of the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence. This prestigious prize, established in 1995, reflects the vision of Amb. Madanjeet Singh, an eminent Indian diplomat, artist, and philanthropist. It recognizes individuals or institutions contributing to fostering tolerance, non-violence, and peaceful coexistence.

Madam. Marquet's participation underscores SAF’s continued engagement with the prize, which aligns with its mission of advancing regional cooperation and harmony in South Asia. The renewal of the prize is a significant step towards reinforcing the importance of these values in today’s global context.

The session will conclude on October 23, 2024, following a series of discussions and decisions that will shape the future course of UNESCO’s projects and initiatives.
