Art Professor & Chairperson,SAF-Pakistan, Salima Hashmi Sparks Collaborative Cultural Dialogue During Visit to SAF- Bangladesh

Professor Salima Hashmi, Chairperson, South Asia Foundation-Pakistan and a distinguished figure in the world of fine arts, recently visited the Bangladesh chapter of the South Asia Foundation. During her visit, she had productive meetings with various key personalities in Bangladesh's art community.

Prof. Hashmi engaged in a fruitful discussion with Amb. Farooq Sobhan, Chairperson, South Asia Foundation-Bangladesh and Ms. Khushi Kabir, Vice Chairperson, SAF-Bangladesh. The discussions revolved around the promotion and advancement of fine arts in the region and the ongoing initiatives of the South Asia Foundation to support scholars and artists across different SAARC chapters.

As part of her visit, Prof. Hashmi also met with Manmeet K Walia, the curator of the Dhaka Art Summit, a prominent event in the art world. She had a chance to exchange ideas and perspectives on the evolving landscape of contemporary art in South Asia. Furthermore, she engaged with Nadia and Rajeeb Samdani, the founders of the Samdani Art Foundation, who are also the driving force behind the Dhaka Art Summit. Their conversation focused on the significance of art summits in fostering artistic exchange and collaboration.

In recognition of Prof. Hashmi's contribution to the field of fine arts and her involvement in the South Asia Foundation, a dinner was hosted in her honor by Amb. Farooq Sobhan. During the dinner, the attendees continued to discuss matters related to fine arts, the role of South Asia Foundation alumni, and the UNESCO Institute of Excellence, a notable initiative within the South Asia Foundation's framework to enhance cultural education Regional Cooperation through eight UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institutions of Excellence in the SAARC countries.
