A two days National Conference on Recent Trends in Green Energy Technologies, organized by Department of Green Energy Technology, Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technologies was inaugurated by Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University on Thursday, 8th December 2022. NCRTGET2022 was organized to commemorate the completion of the ten years of existence of the Department of Green Energy Technology at the Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technologies, Pondicherry University. The conference was held at the convention-cumcultural centre of Pondicherry University. Prof. P. Elumalai, Convener of the conference stated that the goal of NCRTGET2022 was to offer an active forum for discussion among scholars, researchers, academic peers and industry experts from all over India to mutually exchange their ideas and research findings in the fields of renewable energy technologies. About 95 research papers and seventeen invited lectures were presented that included photovoltaic, energy storage, solar thermal, bioenergy, green building, wind energy, and efficient methods for energy production. In tune with current technological advancement in e-mobility, experts were drawn to talk on lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and e-vehicles. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor and Chief guest, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, stressed on the importance of both energy generation and its efficient means of storage. He added that the electric vehicle is a new addition to energy needs of the Nation and for its sustainable utility, electricity should be drawn from the renewable energy sources. The guest of honour Prof. Aninda Jiban Bhattacharyya of Indian Institute of Science Bangalore attributed energy consumption, generation and storage as triple arms of energy. He urged the scientists to work beyond lithiumion based batteries to cater to the diverse energy needs of the society.

The organizing secretary Prof. B.M. Jaffar Ali informed that more than 200 budding researchers and postgraduate students from various institutions have participated in the event. Also, experts invited speakers were drawn from premier institutions and national laboratories across India. The conference was partly sponsored by South Asia Foundation, an UNESCO recognized non-profit organization founded by Amb. Madanjeet Singh. Madame France Marquet, Trustee, Madanjeet Singh Foundation and South Asia Foundation Representative to UNESCO, had graced the valediction of the conference on 9th December and distributed best paper presentation awards. Prof. K.Tharanikarasu, Dean, MSGET & Director Studies had presided over the Valediction.
