Sad Demise of Amb. Madanjeet Singh

Back
Testimony Srinagar, India - 17th January 2013

I will remember the late Mr. Madanjeet Singh as a man with a unique passion to better society and to grow it. He seemed to know that a society is bettered and grows great when, to quote a Greek proverb, "old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall not sit in." It recalls the best of the Bhagvad Gita which exhorts us to not care for the fruits of our actions, of the Quran which instructs us to dedicate all our actions to something beyond ourselves and all scripture which teaches us to be detached in our actions.

My condolences to Mme. France Marquet and the entire family, immediate and extended, for the loss they must feel at this time and to all our colleagues in the SAF family who will surely miss his reassuring support, his smiling encouragements and his insistence that we keep the goals of tolerant, inclusive and compassionate society in mind always.

"From the Infinite we arrive and to the Infinite we return." May he rest in peace, knowing that his work will continue.
