His Excellency,
Madanjeet Singh,
UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador,
Founder South Asia Foundation (SAF).

Sir,

I, Mushtaq Ahmad Itoo, from Jammu & Kashmir have completed my M.Phil Research Programme from the Institute of Kashmir Studies, established through your efforts and financial help. My Research Programme was “Impact of Turmoil on Kashmir Tourism” which most importantly analyzed and discussed the impact of the ongoing political turmoil in the valley of Kashmir on the development of tourism in Kashmir. As is evident the tourism came virtually to a stand still during the nineties of twentieth century. It was through the efforts of connoisseurs of society like you who believed in the traditional brotherhood of Kashmiris, that the Kashmiri society re-emerged to combat the terrorism, in whatever garb it was, and paved the way for better future for Kashmir.

The department is having a developing library with relevant material both in print and electronic form. Also the Institute is conducting regular presentations, Lectures, Seminars and workshops which help the scholars to enhance their speaking power and to widen their mental horizons. Personally I have greatly been enriched by these programmes.

So far as teachers of the Institute are concerned, they are very experienced, dynamic in nature and co-operative with us.

Keeping all these above points in mind I am going to seek the admission for my PhD Programme in the Institute. However, unfortunately I am not in the category of those scholars who are getting “Madanjeet Singh Scholar ship” and hence have to support myself from my own meagre sources.

With regards,

Mushtaq Ahmad Itoo
Research Scholar,
Institute of Kashmir Studies.
