An annual reception to commemorate SAARC Charter Day and United Nations Human Rights Day (10 December) was held in SAF India headquarters.

About 60 guests representing the diplomatic community (primarily the Embassies and High Commissions of the SAARC nations), academia, senior civil servants, media representatives and civil society activists.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Delhi, Prasad Karivasam, the most senior diplomat present on the occasion, was invited by Veena Sikri, Vice Chairman SAF India Chapter to address the audience. He spoke about emphasizing that each SAARC nation needed the others to grow and develop in tandem with each other’s support and cooperation the example of the UNESCO Madanjeet Institutions of Excellence that can generate positives feelings of friendship across the region
