SAF Support to UNESCO

The South Asia Foundation (SAF), has decided to further the goals of women’s education and empowerment by pledging $1 million to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The contribution was announced on October 16 during a meeting of Unesco’s Goodwill Ambassadors in Paris. The money was pledged in a letter sent to Director-General Irina Bokova by France Marquet, a trustee of the South Asia Foundation. The SAF is founded by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador a Freedom fighter of India Madanjeet Singh. SAF has also set-up various institutions of excellence in various South Asian capitals besides giving scholarships to students of South Asia.
