UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Studies (UMISAS)

Since the 26 October 2010, Mme Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director-General announced that the 12 SAF Institutions of Excellence will be able to use UNESCO logo and named UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institutions of Excellence.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the South Asia Foundation (SAF) and the Institute of South Asian Studies (The Institute), established under Government College University (GCU), Lahore (in the process of formation)

Centre for South Asian Studies, Government College University, Lahore

The centre is being established in what was originally a church before becoming the old gymnasium in what is actually a heritage building within the College compound. Like all other SAF institutes of excellence, SAF group scholarship programme would help in forging and promoting interaction among research scholars from the SAARC countries.Government College University would also consider conferring diplomas and degrees to students in diverse courses relating to South Asian studies.

Under the new Director: Prof Azhar Nadeem and the supervision of Dr Khaliqur Rehman, Vice-Chancellor Of The Government College University.
