I am writing in appreciation of SAF Founder Ambassador Madanjeet Singh’s contribution to the scholarship awards for the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asian Regional Cooperation. With your support, I am honoured to be a recipient of the Madanjeet scholarship from Nepal for two years (2010-2012) M.A. in South Asian Studies and International Relations from Central University of Pondicherry, India. Under the same scholarship, I got the opportunity to study Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Psychology and recently I got enrolled in another P.G. Diploma course in Planning and Evaluation.

The South Asian Studies has provided me new perspective of life to think not only as one country citizen, but help me to build myself as South Asian, a global citizen. South Asia is the multi cultural, multi linguistic region with lots of burning issues where learning would not be possible only by the lectures but it was by the interactions whether it was tea chats or the dinner plates with hot issues with the friends that we made during our stay in Pondi, the classmates and the seniors that we live with. We fought, we cried, we laughed and we learned this is what the South Asia and the regional cooperation is all about. Thank you for taking the concept of regional cooperation in grass root level. The learning we share regarding the contemporary issues and the analysis is truly marvelous because it is not the myth that we read in the books but is told by the people who live in, different students from different country, we not only share the knowledge but we share our cultures and we learn and do respect .

I hope to one day thank Ambassador Singh personally for his generosity. Without individuals like him, many students would be unable to pursue the career of their dreams to study, to learn and explore. Growing up in a rural village of Nepal, Solukhumbhu, where my parents work very hard to make ends meet has made me realize the value of the education especially for a female child.  I always appreciate my family’s support and encouragement, and I hope to set a fine example for my community and country as a whole. I will always remain grateful to you all. I have also learnt in my days of hardship that there are very few people who help others genuinely. And last not the least I would like to thank my room mate Shajna(Maldhives) and my seniors Indrajee De Zoysa ( Sri Lanka), Samten Lendup (Bhutan) and my two Nepali brothers Phurba Tenzin and Tenzin sherpa for making my stay very pleasant and memorable.

Thank you again for your generous support.
Sincerely,
Mingmar Dolma Sherpa
