Lahore girl becomes first Pakistani to complete Ph.D from Kashmir University

Lahore: A Pakistani girl Nadia Mehr daughter of Mehr Din of Pakistan has completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in History from Kashmir University (KU) and become the the first Pakistani to have completed the doctorate from this Srinagar-based varsity under the South Asia Foundation (SAF) program.

The student Nadia said while talking to a private TV channel that it was the “most memorable part of life to pursue doctorate from Kashmir.”

“I have been here for four years. And the love and affection people gave to me, I can never forget,” she said.

She said that Visa barrier should be removed and all Pakistanis should be given permission to visit Kashmir, the paradise on earth.

She further said that it was brilliant experience to take an education from such a beautiful place.

While the KU officials said Nadia pursued the research program vide University Registration No: 52-PhD-2010 from the Institute of Kashmir Studies.

She did her thesis on “The Development of Science, Technology, Arts and Language during the Sultanate Period in Kashmir”, under the supervision of Prof Gulshan Majeed, Institute of Kashmir Studies.

Nadia was awarded the PhD vide notification No: F (PhD– History-(Institute Kashmir Studies)/Sec/KU/2013 dated December 9 2013.
